Why this recording exists
In 2009 I applied to the conservatory. The jury asked for three songs. If they liked what they heard, you were invited to audition in person. Nova was one of the three.
My brother played everything on it that isn't drums. We recorded it at our parents' house. The kit was in the attic, and an XLR snake ran down the stairs from there to his room, where the computer was.
I got the invitation. Some time later the computer that held the project file died, and with it every track, every take, every mix except this one export. This is the only copy of Nova that exists.
So it comes out the way it was, as a demo, and as the first thing on Fuzzy Ears: FE001. Not because it is finished, but because it is where this started.
Right now my brother and I are recording it again, properly this time, with musicians I've met along the way since. When that version is ready you'll hear it here first.
